Equatorial Guinea is an hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. Traffic is driven on the right here. The phone IDD code is +240. The official currency is the Central African CFA franc (XAF).

Due to its sizeable petroleum reserves, it has an estimated nominal GDP of $10.413 billion, or a per capita nominal GDP of $15,401. Its per capita GDP at purchasing power parity is $31,837, putting it in 24th position in the world according to World Bank estimates. However, the high per capita GDP is deceptive, as the wealth in concentrated in the hands of the elite, while 70% of the population survive below the United Nations Poverty Threshold of $2 per day.
