Iguaçu National Park in Brazil and Iguazú National Park in Argentina together preserves Iguaçu Falls, the largest and arguably most impressive waterfall in the world. Iguazu Falls extends for some 2700 meters. The national park is home to many rare and endangered flora and fauna, including the giant otter and the giant anteater. Due to the significance of this immense waterfall, I have a separate page on Iguazu Falls in Brazil.

Iguaçu National Park was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during theWhen submitting this site for inscription, the delegation representing Brazil indicated its wish to list Iguaçu National Park independently, without any link to the concept of transfrontier site. This is because Brazilian legislation did not allow for any commitment regarding joint management of national parks. The World Heritage Committee welcomed the willingness of Brazil to cooperate with Argentina in the conservation and preservation of Iguaçu National Park alongside Iguazu National Park across the border.

Your base for visiting this World Heritage Site is Rio de Janeiro. From there, you can make the arrangement, either on your own or through a travel agency, to go to Iguaçu National Park. The Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is the airport on the Brazilian side serving the national park. It has direct flights from Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and other regional cities.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
