Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. It covers 53.2 sq km (20.6 sq mi) and has a population of about 68,000 (2011 estimate). The capital is Hamilton while the largest municipality is St George's.

Bermuda is in the Atlantic Standard Time Zone, which is four hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-4). Its official currency is the Bermudian dollar (BMD). The electricity here is 120V/60Hz. The phone IDD code is +1-441. The official language is English. About 55% of the population of Bermuda are ethnic African-Caribbean while Europeans form 34%.

Bermuda has an estimated GDP at purchasing power parity of $5.85 billion, equivalent to a per capita GDP of $97,000. This gives it the world's highest GDP per capita, the result of it being a major offshore financial center, with tourism coming in as the second biggest income earner.

Bermuda experiences a humid subtropical climate, said to be similar to that of Savannah, Georgia. The warmest month here is August, when the average high of the day may touch 30°C (86°F). The coldest months are February and March, when temperature may drop to 15°C (59°F). The wettest month is October, receiving 160 mm (6.3 in) of precipitation.

The administrative divisions of Bermuda are called parishes. There are a total of nine parishes on the island. The island of Bermuda is often called the Main Island, as the territory includes 181 islands.

Planning your trip to Bermuda

The Bermuda International Airport (BDA) is the main gateway. It gets flights from major cities on both sides of the Atlantic. As Bermuda has the world's highest landing and parking fees for airlines, the price of air tickets to Bermuda is correspondingly higher than that to other destinations in the Caribbean.
