George Town is the capital of the Cayman Islands. It is a small city of 36,000 people (2012 estimate). The town is located on the island of Grand Cayman in the British West Indies. It is the largest town in the whole of the British Overseas Territories.

Today is the center the for financial industry of Cayman Islands. Some six hundred banks and trust companies operate here, including forty out of the fifty largest banks in the world. The financial industry accounts for 55% of the economy of Cayman Islands. The city is also a popular tourist destination and port of call for cruise ships plying the Caribbean. Cruise ships usually arrive in the early morning and leaves in the mid afternoon.

Visiting George Town

Many visitors to George Town arrive on cruise ships, where they stopover for less than a day. You can also fly to George Town, arriving at the Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM). From the airport, you can take a taxi to anywhere on the island. There are flights from Atlanta, Charlotte, Havana, Kingston, La Ceiba, London, Miami, Montego Bay, Nassau, New York City, Tampa and Toronto.
