Curicó is the capital of Curicó Province in the Maule Region of Chile. It covers 1,328 sq km (512.9 sq mi) and has a population of 125,000 people (2012 estimate).

Curicó is located 183 km (114 mi) south of Santiago, on the Guaiquillo River. The city is within the Chilean Central Valley, a fertile and well-cultivated region. It is a center for producing wheat, wine and cattle. The area is also reach in minerals including copper, gold and silver.

Curicó enjoys a Mediterranean climate. Summers here, from November to March, are hot and dry, with average temperatures reaching 30°C (86°F) in January. Winters, from June to August, are humid and cool. Average low temperature may drop to 0.5°C (33°F) in July. July is also the wettest month, receiving 246 mm (9.7 in) of rainfall.
