Barisal is a city of about 210,000 people on the northern shore of the Bay of Bengal in southern Bangladesh. The city is today one of the biggest ports in Bangladesh located on the Kirtankhola River. The city is sometimes called the Venice of Bengal due to its waterways and rivers.

How to go to Barisal

The best way to go to Barisal from Dhaka is to take a boat. The journey is 12 hours, but you can enjoy the scenery along the way.

  1. Kuakata: Also called Sagar Kannya, Kuakata is a scenic place on the southernmost part of Bangladesh. It is an excellent spot to watch the sunset.
