Chittagong is the second largest city and main port of Bangladesh. It has a population of 2.5 million people. The city is the administrative capital of the Chittagong District and Chittagong Division. Located on the southeastern part of Bangladesh, the city also serves as the entry port for goods to Bangladesh as well as the main gateway port for northeastern India, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.

Today Chittagong is one of the key tourist destinations in Bangladesh. On this page I am listing down the places on interest that you can visit when you are there.

Arriving in Chittagong

By Plane
Most foreign tourists arrive by air at the Shah Amanat International Airport (CGP). This modern international airport is the second busiest in the country.

By Train
You can catch a train to Chittagong from Dhaka or Sylhet.

By Road
There are bus services from Dhaka and Cox's Bazar. It takes 6 hours by road to reach Chittagong from Dhaka, and 3 hours from Cox's Bazar.

Getting around Chittagong

As with other cities in Bangladesh, India and Nepal, you can find lots of cycle-rickshaws on the road. They are quite inexpensive and can be hired by the hour. Always negotiate the fee before boarding. For longer distances, you can take the CNG taxis or auto-rickshaws.
