Guangxi (Simplified Chinese: 广西) is an autonomous region of China. Created for the Zhuang people, it is officially known as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The region is located in southern China, bordered by Guangdong Province to the east, Hunan Province to the northeast, Guizhou Province to the north and Yunnan Province to the west. It also borders Vietnam to the southwest. Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region faces the Gulf of Tonkin to the south.

Guangxi covers 236,700 sq km (91,400 sq mi). It is the 9th largest region or province in China. With a population of 49 million people, it is the 11th most populous region in the country. The capial and largest city is Nanning, while Guilin is a former capital and cultural center of the country.

Guangxi has a mountainous terrain with a number of ranges within its borders. The highest mountain in Guangxi Province is Yuecheng Mountains, at 2141 meters.

Going to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The Nanning Wuxu International Airport is served by a number of international flights from Southeast Asia, in addition to domestic flights from major cities in China. You can also get to Nanning by train. It takes 10 hours to go there from Kunming, and 28 hours from Beijing.
