Bintan is the largest island in the Riau archipelago of Indonesia. It covers 2,402 sq km (927 sq mi) and has a population nof 118,000 people. It is part of the province of Riau Islands, with its capital being Tanjung Pinang.

Bintan is about 50 minutes from Singapore by ferry. Take the ferry from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to reach Tanjung Pinang in Bintan. There are six ferries on weekdays and nine on weekends and public holidays. The fare is S$40 one way/S$59 return. From Malaysia, take the ferry from the Johor Bahru Ferry Terminal at Stulang Laut, Johor Bahru. The trip to Tanjung Pinang takes 90 minutes and costs RM75 one way/RM125 return. There are five ferry services per day. For details, contact +60-7-221 1677.

From Batam, Indonesia, there are speedboats every 15 minutes from Telaga Punggur in Batam to Tanjung Pinang. The fare is Rp 40,000 plus port taxes of Rp 3,500. Journey takes an hour. For details, contact the operator Baruna (+62-778-479162 in Telaga Punggur or +62-771-28578 in Tanjung Pinang).
