Hakuba 白馬村, Nagano Prefecture

Hakuba (Japanese: 白馬村) is a village in the district of Kitaazumi in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The village covers 182.34 sq km (70.40 sq mi) and has a population of 9,200 people (2012 estimate).

Hakuba is best known for playing host to the 1998 Winter Olympics. This was where the Alpine, Ski jump and Crosscountry events were held. Today the town is also a popular destination during summer, where visitors can engage in various outdoor activities including hiking, paragliding, bird watching and more.

Planning your trip to Hakuba

Hakuba is on the JR Oita Line. It is served by the Super Azusa limited express train from Shinjuku. The train takes 3 hours and 45 minutes to reach Hakuba, and the fare is ¥8,070 one way.
