is the link connecting Peninsular Malaysia to the island of Singapore. It connects Johor Bahru
in Singapore. A road, a railway, a pedestrian walkway and a water pipeline are carried through the causeway. On the Johor Bahru side is the Sultan Iskandar Customers, Immigration and Quarantine Complex
while on the Woodlands side is the Woodlands CIQ Checkpoint.

History of the Causeway
The idea of linking Johor and Singapore through the narrow Straits of Johor
(also known as the Tebrau Straits) has been discussed since the turn of the 20th century. The project only got under way around 1919. It was completed around 1923 at a cost of $17 million, borne by the Johor government.
Today the Causeway is still the main link between Malaysia and Singapore. The Second Link takes some load from the Causeway. Nevertheless over 60,000 vehicles pass through it every day.
