Rumah Tok Su, Alor SetarRumah Tok Su, Alor Setar (2 August, 2015)

Rumah Tok Su (GPS: 6.14791, 100.37173) is a traditional Malay house that has been restored and rebuilt in Alor Setar, Kedah. As with Rumah Seri Banai next to it, this house was built as part of the Malay Heritage Village, a brainchild of then Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Sanusi Junid. The house was originally built in Kampung Permatang Kerat Telunjuk, which is in Bandar Baharu District in southern Kedah.

Rumah Tok Su, as we know it presently, is named after the final owner, whose father was the headman of Kampung Permatang Kerat Telunjuk. The house was built a hundred years ago by Tok Su's grandfather, a Tuan Haji Mahmud. It is a sprawling structure comprising six different wings around a main hall, which is called the "Rumah Ibu Berbumbung Potongan Belanda", adjoined by the verandah, the middle hall, the in-between chamber, the kitchen and platform.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
