Bandar Wawasan, Kuala Lumpur
(9 July, 2016)
is an area in Kuala Lumpur
bounded by Jalan Sultan Ismail
and Jalan Raja Abdullah
. The area was originally developed by RHB Daewoo. Development of the area goes back as early as 1995, but financial difficulties have prevented the entire project to be fully completed even by time of writing in May, 2017.
Also known as Vision City, the area of Bandar Wawasan is 4.6 hectares. Three main high-rise buildings have been built here. The first one, completed in 2000, is the 29-storey Menara Bank Pembangunan
, which was formerly known as Bank Industri Bhd, and is also known as Office Tower 1. The second building is 33 storeys tall. It was also completed in the year 2000, and was sold to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall for RM108.2 million. It is today known as Menara DBKL 3 Bandar Wawasan
. The third building is a 31-storey high rise known as Office Tower 3. Completed in 2001, it was sold to Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) for RM105 million, and today houses the campus of Universiti Kuala Lumpur.
Construction of the shopping mall component of Vision City came to a halt when the original developer got into financial trouble, and so the project was left abandoned for many years until it was acquired by Quill Retail Mall in 2007. After that, construction resumed, and the shopping mall was renamed Quill City Mall. It opened to the public in October, 2014.
