Jalan Ampang, Kuala LumpurJalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur (11 July, 2016)

Jalan Ampang is one of the main roads in Kuala Lumpur. It is also one of the oldest and longest roads in the city, having been around since the earliest days that Kuala Lumpur was established. Jalan Ampang was the route taken by the early miners to open up the tin mines in Ampang.

Jalan Ampang roughly follows the course of the Klang River. It starts at the junction with Jalan Gereja and ends in Selangor, at the junction with Jalan Taman Putra, beyond which lies Jalan Bukit Belacan.

Jalan Ampang was originally known as Ampang Road. It has been around since the early 1880s1. It another word for empangan, meaning dam, in reference to the dams built by the early tin miners in the area. Today Jalan Ampang is nothing like what it was in the late 19th century, when it was a mere laterite road leading through a denuded terrain of tin mines. It is one of the main roads in downtown Kuala Lumpur, and passes on the northern side of KLCC.

In order to cover this road in detail, I shall describe the Jalan Ampang in Selangor on a separate page, with a separate map. I will list down the various sights along Jalan Ampang all the way till the Selangor border, with the first property on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, bearing the number of 1-3, belonging to Property Auction House Sdn Bhd.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
