Queen Victoria Fountain, Malacca

Victoria Fountain, MalaccaThe Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Fountain, Malacca (9 July, 2005)

The Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee Fountain (GPS: 2.19435, 102.24906) was erected in 1904 by the people of Malacca to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Victoria. Inscribed on the column of the fountain are the words "Victoria Regina 1837-1901", which denotes the reign of the monarch, followed by "Erected by the People of Malacca in Memory of a Great Queen, 1904". It is a reminder that the fountain was only completed three years after the green queen's passing, during the reign of Edward VII.
