Cameron Lavender Garden (GPS: 4.52687, 101.4266) is a flower garden in Cameron Highlands. Opened to the public in 2013, it immediately became one of the most popular tourist attractions there. Located on a hill slope in Tringkap, Cameron Lavender Garden is planted with four different varieties of lavender. To be precise, three of the cultivars are from the species Lavandula while another is from a related species, Plectranthus.

The lavender at Cameron Lavender Garden is the major draw. During public holidays, the road in front of the attraction can become massively jammed. The lavender are planted in fields to produce a uniform colour shade. On the lowest slope is the Hokkaido Lavender, a beautiful variety with dark purplish blue flowers. Next to it is the lavender from China. This looks a lot of stalks of wheat, except that they are purplish in color. The China variety is not as dense compared to the Hokkaido variety.

Above the China lavendar is Mona Lavender, which isn't actually from the species Lavandula, but from the related species, Plectranthus. Plectranthus "Mona Lavender" is a popular cultivar with a profusion of lavender-colored flowers. Sharing the same slope is a variety of begonia, which turns the field into a riot of red hues, and Coreopsis, which has beautiful yellow flowers.

Across from the main field is a steep slope planted with the lavender from Taiwan. This variety is not as colorful as the Hokkaido variety. Next to it, and again, offering a riot of colors, is a slope covered with Petunia.

Amenities at Cameron Lavender Garden

The garden has kiosks for photoshooting. There's also an ice-cream kiosk where you can try lavender-flavoured ice-cream. We tried, it was RM6.00 per cone. Hmm ... nothing much to shout about, but worth a try, since we were there. Further up the slope, there is a café selling various pastries and soft drinks. Next to it is the Strawberry Jam Factory, designed to look like an giant mushroom. Further on are fields of Gerberas (common name: daisy!) where you can pluck your own. (During my visit in May 2016, one stalk costs RM2 while six cost RM10) Even further on, and out of access to visitors, you can see the mainstay of Cameron Lavender Garden, which is, the cut-flower industry. Rows of chrysanthemum are planted right up the hill slopes. There is a gift shop where you can buy all things lavender - there's lavender-coloured teddy bear, mugs, teeshirt, toiletries, all the usual suspects you would expect from a lavender gift shop.

Our visit to Cameron Lavender Garden

We arrived at the Cameron Lavender Garden on 3 May, 2016, our final day at Cameron Highlands. We passed by it on our way up to Cameron, but decided not to stop because it was simply too crowded on that day.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
