Sungai Manjung (Sg. Dinding), Perak

Sungai Manjung is one of the major rivers in Perak. It got its name from the district of Manjung, formerly known as Dinding. As such, the river is also called the Dinding River or Sungai Dinding. Compared to Sungai Perak, Sungai Manjung is quite short. However it is very wide for much of its course.

Sungai Manjung is formed when two of its major tributaries converge. These are Sungai Segari and Sungai Raja Hitam. These two are quite big rivers in their own right, and each has its own system of tributaries. Flowing southward, Sungai Manjung receives other rivers into its course, among them Sungai Siah Lip, Sungai Gapis, Sungai Pasu, Sungai Ayer Tawar, Sungai Batu Undan, Sungai Sitiawan and the two Lumut rivers, Sungai Lumut Kiri and Sungai Lumut Kanan.

Throughout its course, there is only one bridge crossing it, which is, Jambatan Raja Permaisuri Bainun, which holds the distinction as being the longest river bridge in the country.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
