Tam Kung Temple (GPS: 5.85818, 118.11184) is a Chinese temple on the north side of Sandakan. It is located at Mile 1.5 Jalan Utara. The original temple was constructed in 1894 by Hakka immigrants.

The conservation of Tam Kung Temple was hailed as a first in Malaysia, when the original shrine was lifted and brought into the new temple complex built around it. This created a "temple within a temple."

Getting there

Tam Kung Temple is located off Jalan Utara. If you are coming from Sandakan town, take a right turn immediately after the UEM Building. That is before the roundabout (Bulatan Elopura). If you got to the roundabout, make a 360° turn. Refer to my map below for further details on the location.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
