Maludam National Park (GPS: 1.52707, 111.14142) is a national park in the Betong Division of Sarawak. (Betong Division is the 11th and newest administrative division of Sarawak, in what was previously Sri Aman Division). Maludam National Park covers the largest tract of peat swamp in Sarawak, located in the Maludam peninsula. Gazetted in the year 2000, it is 431 square kilometers in size, making it the second largest national park in Sarawak.

Presently Maludam National Park has the only viable population of red-banded langur, one of the most beautiful monkeys in the world, and endemic to Borneo. The range of the red-banded langur is limited entirely to the peat swamp forests in the Sri Aman and Sarikei Divisions of Sarawak.

Apart from the red-banded langur, Maludam National Park also has one of only five viable populations of proboscis monkey in Sarawak. Another primate found here is the silvered langur. Among the birds found there include different species of hornbills, kingfishers, wild pigeons, the slender-billed crow, greater racket-tailed drongo and the rare Storm's stork.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
