Bukit Jugra, Kuala Langat

Bukit Jugra, Selangor (6 July, 2016)


Bukit Jugra (GPS: 2.83554, 101.4176) is a small hill in Kuala Langat District, Selangor. The forest on the hill is protected as part of Hutan Simpan Bukit Jugra. There is a hill road that winds its way up Bukit Jugra. As you go up, you will pass some ruins, followed by a Chinese cemetery, and then the Bukit Jugra Lighthouse, which has a look-out point affording splended views of the coast and estuary of Sungai Langat.

The location of Bukit Jugra was one of the reasons why Sultan Abdul Samad created his royal capital in the town of Jugra below. The hill provided navigators a landmark, even though it wasn't exactly by the coast. During colonial times, the hill was called Parcelar Hill. To the locals, the bill is also called Bukit Kerang.
