There are so many places in Malaysia, the best way to get to know them all is to go state by state. On this page, I provide you a short introduction to each state. Click in to visit the state, where I provide more information.

Johor Travel Tips

Johor is the southernmost state of Peninsular Malaysia. It is also the closest to Singapore. You can find many places of interest in its capital, Johor Bahru, as well as in smaller towns along the west and east coasts of the state.


Kedah Travel Tips

Kedah is one of the oldest states in Malaysia. It is also home to Bujang Valley, the richest archeological site in the country.


Kelantan Travel Tips

Kelantan is one of the least developed state in Peninsular Malaysia. There are many Muslim and Buddhist sites in this state.

Malacca is regarded as the cradle of Malay civilisation. It is rich in local history, particularly its capital, the eponymous Historic City of Malacca.


Negeri Sembilan Travel Tips

Negeri Sembilan is a state renowned for its Minangkabau culture, which originated in Sumatra.


Pahang Travel Tips

Pahang is the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. It covers much of the forested and mountainous central part of the peninsula, and is home to several hill stations.

Penang is one of the main tourist destinations in Malaysia. It is rich in history and culture, particularly its capital George Town.

Perak is traditionally known for tin mining. Though this has come to pass, the state has many places of interest, from limestone hills to cave temples.

Perlis is the smallest state in Malaysia. It is also the northernmost. The state has lovely limestone outcrops as among its attractions.

Sabah is the second largest state in Malaysia. It is also home to the tallest peak in Southeast Asia.

Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia, and home to many indigenous tribes. Being a very large state, Sarawak has a number of major towns, each with its own characteristics.

Selangor is the most developed state in Malaysia. It surrounds the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and is often contiguous with these territories.


Terengganu Travel Tips

Terengganu is a lovely state on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, with pristine seascapes and sun-drenched islands.
