Malaysia's Railway Network comprises the services provided by the Malayan Railways (Keretapi Tanah Melayu) and the rail networks within the Klang Valley. The railway lines managed by Malayan Railways are:

  1. West Coast Line This is the railway line from Padang Besar Railway Station in the north to Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore to the south. Major stations on this like are the KL Sentral Railway Station and Butterworth Railway Station.

  2. East Coast Line This is the railway line from Gemas Railway Station in Negeri Sembilan to Tumpat Railway Station in Kuantan. The Gemas Railway Station serves as an interchange for passengers on the West Coast Line and East Coast Line.

Within the Klang Valley, the rail transportation network comprises two LRT lines, one monorail lines, and three commuter train lines. At time of writing, the Kuala Lumpur Mass Rapid Transport System (MRT) is under construction and is expected to be ready by 2017.

The KL Monorail Line is a 8.6 km long monorail line with 11 operational stations.

The Express Rail Link is the high-speed train network connecting KLIA to KL Sentral, comprising KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit.


KTM Komuter

KTM Komuter is a commuter train service serving the Klang Valley, presently comprising two lines totalling 217 km in line length and having 53 stations.


Kuala Lumpur MRT

The Kuala Lumpur Mass Rapid Transit or MRT is preliminary information about the mass rapid transit system being planned for Kuala Lumpur.
