Caloocan City, Philippines

Caloocan City is a city within Metro Manila in the Philippines. With a population of 1.4 million people, it is the third most populous city in the country. Caloocan City covers 53.33 sq km (20.6 sq mi) on the northern part of Metro Manila. It comprises 188 neighborhoods calledc barangays. The barangays are then grouped into 16 zones.

Caloocan City comprises two separate parts, Southern Caloocan City and Northern Caloocan City. The two parts are not contiguous. Bordering South Caloocan City include the City of Manila to the south, Quezon City to the east, Valenzuela City to the north, the City of Novotas to the west, and Malabon City to the west. Bordering North Caloocan City include Valenzuela City th the west, Quezon City to the east, and the Province of Bulacan to the north.

As with the rest of Luzon, most of the people in Caloocan City understand English and Filipino, although many speak other languages and dialects. The majority are Roman Catholics.

The city center of Caloocan City is in the area called Monumento. This is where you find the long-distance bus terminals. The Light Rail Transit LRT-1 line also has its terminal at Monumento.

The main boulevards and expressways in Caloocan City include the EDSA (Epifanio de los Santos Avenue), the North Luzon Expressway, the Andreas Bonifacio Avenue, Samson Road and Rizal Avenue. Rizal Avenue connects Caloocan City with the City of Manila while the EDSA connects it immediately to Quezon City.
