Hello and welcome to my Singapore Travel Tips!

My name is Timothy Tye. Thank you for reading Singapore Travel Tips, which is part of my travel encyclopedia. I create it to share with you everything I know about Singapore. To write it, I walked the streets, took the MRT, the bus, I ate everywhere, and photographed everything. Then I researched and wrote. And wrote some more. The result is a body of information which I am sharing with you now. I will continue to update the information regularly, adding new pages and photographs.

I describe the process of writing this website as building a layer cake. Information is added layer by layer over time. Every sight is a page of its own. In the beginning, the details may be limited, but as I continue to learn about the sight, I add more and more details. I try my best to research all information carefully, attributing the source and references, to provide you a body of information that might be of use to you. My ambition is that, every time you need to know about a sight in Singapore, you will be able to find it here.

Administrative Divisions of Singapore

For planning purposes, Singapore is divided into five regions namely the Central Region, East Region, North Region, North-East Region and West Region. These regions are then subdivided into planning areas, which are the de facto districts. However, they are not electorial district boundaries, which determine the town council boundaries. Each town council can consist of a Group Representation Constituency (GRC), a Single Member Constituency (SMC) or a collection of GRCs and SMCs controlled by the same political party. The boundary of a town council may change from time to time, whereas the boundary of a planning area is likely to be of a more permanent nature. The planning areas are group by region as follows:
