Makansutra Gluttons Bay (GPS: 1.2895, 103.85692) is a hawker centre at Marina Bay, Singapore. It is located along Raffles Avenue, next to Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. The hawker centre was established around 2005. It opens only in the evening, usually from 3:00pm until 12:00 midnight, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

Stalls at Makansutra Gluttons Bay are (in alphabetical order), Alhambra Padang Satay, Gerry's Grill, Hong Kong Street Old Chun Kee, Huat Huat BBQ Chicken Wing & Carrot Cake, Old Satay Club Mee Goreng, Redhill Rong Guang B.B.Q. Seafood, Soon Lee Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, Thai Yummy Food, The Sweet Spot, Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice, and the beverage provider, The Gluttons Bar, which is also the operator of the hawker centre.

I visited Makansutra Gluttons Bay during the morning part of the day, on Tuesday, 1 August, 2017. During that time, it was empty. In the evening of that same day, I returned to it with KF Seetoh, whose company operated the hawker centre. The place was absolutely jam-packed with diners, but lucky for me, he had a table reserved for us with a gorgeous view of Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline. It was my final night in Singapore for that trip, and I must say, Seetoh has kept the best for last!

It was the run up towards the Singapore National Day, and in conjunction with that, the Hong Kong Street Old Chun Kee stall has created the Nasi Lemak Burger, which has turned out to be the pièce de résistance at Makansutra Gluttons Bay. The creation of KF Seetoh himself, the burger was initially sold two years ago from a Hong Kong Street Old Chun Kee food truck at the Esplanade.

The Nasi Lemak Burger comprises fried fish patty, groundnuts, crispy anchovies, cucumbers, sambal, and a sunny-side-up egg, sandwiched between two buns comprising pan-seared patties of nasi lemak rice with otak-otak, all resting on a banana leaf. KF Seetoh posted about it on Facebook, back in 29, February, 2016, generating great interest and demand. It was finally launched around March that year at Makansutra Gluttons Bay.

This Nasi Lemak Burger is nothing like the Nasi Lemak Burger from McDonald's, which I also had the chance to try a couple of days earlier. I love Makansutra Gluttons Bay's Nasi Lemak Burger, I do! When I heard that this is going to be a seasonal item specially for the National Day period, I urged Seetoh to convince Hong Kong Street Old Chun Kee stall to make it a permanent feature. I believe many people would agree to that too!

The Nasi Lemak Burger was not the only item I tried here. I also tried the Goreng Pisang dipped in Pandan Kaya. Now isn't that a great idea. Why didn't I think of eating goreng pisang with kaya before? Probably because goreng pisang was already sweet on its own. But having tasted this, it gives me idea to eat goreng pisang with kaya in the future!

The Singapore skyline from Makansutra Gluttons Bay is breathtaking. I regret bringing only my smartphone on this outing. It would look even nicer on my DSLR.
