Chaiyaphum Province จังหวัดชัยภูมิ

Chaiyaphum Province จังหวัดชัยภูมิ is located in the Northeastern Region of Thailand, straddling the Petchabun mountain range. The province rises to 1222 m in height, with the eastern part of it being in the Khorat Plateau.

Chaiyaphum Province covers 12,778 sq km (4,934 sq mi) and has a population of 1.13 million people. It ranks 7th in size and 15th in population. There is a large population of ethnic Lao in the province. The people here speak the Isan language, a dialect of the Lao language. The province centers around the provincial capital, Chaiyaphum Town, which has its history going back to the 12th century, when it was an outpost of the Khmer Empire. Prang Ku is a ruin from this period.

Chaiyaphum Province is bordered by Khon Kaen Province to the northeast, Nakhon Ratchasima Province to the south, Lopburi Province to the southwest, and Phetchaburi Province to the west. The province is divided into 16 districts or amphoe. They include Chaiyaphum Town (Mueang Chaiyaphum), Ban Khwao, Khon Sawan, Kaset Sombun, Nong Bua Daeng, Chatturat, Bamnet Narong, Nong Bua Rawe, Thep Sathit, Phu Khiao, Ban Thaen, Kaeng Khro, Khon San, Phakdi Chumphon, Noen Sa-nga and Sap Yai.
