Rayong ระยอง is the main town as well as capital of Rayong Province on the east coast of Thailand. It is about 179 kilometers from Bangkok. Rayong is a seaside resort, but as it is farther away compared to Pattaya, it receives fewer visitors. As such, its beaches are transquil and prefect for those seeking some solitude.

Travel to Rayong

You can get to Rayong by bus from Bangkok. There are buses from the Eastern Bus Terminal at Ekkamai in Bangkok. The journey takes about 3 hours.

There are also flights (not necessary for most tourists, in my opinion) from Bangkok to the U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport, provided by Orient Thai Airlines. From here, you can get to Rayong by taxi. Personally, I find it rather time consuming to fly and then take a taxi.

Travel within Rayong

The town itself can be explored on foot. For greater distances, hail one of the songtheaws (passenger pickup trucks).

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
