The Upper Middle Rhine Valley is a World Heritage Site in Germany. This particular stretch of the valley covers a distance of 65 kilometers. Within this stretch are many castles, historic towns and vineyards. They reflect how the land was used and how human involvement has shaped the landscape.

The Upper Middle Rhine Valley is a land rich in history and legend. Many writers, artists and composers have been inspired to create stories and works of art about it.

Upper Middle Rhine Valley was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 26th session of the World Heritage Committee in Budapest, Hungary, on 24 - 29 June 2002.
