Engadine Valley (German: Engadin, Italian: Engadina, Romansh: Engiadina) is a scenic valley in the Rhaetian Alps, within Graubünden canton, Switzerland. The name Engadine means "garden of the River Inn" in the Romansh language.

Engadine Valley extends in a northeast direction from the vicinity of St Moritz to the Austrian border. Protected by high mountains, the valley is blessed with sunny climate and scenic landscapes. On both sides of the valley, the cliffs rise up steeply. Flowing through the valley is the River Inn that follows a course northeast into Austria a hundred kilometers away.

Engadine Valley comprises two sections. Upper Engadine (Oberengadin) in the southwest, from Maloja Pass to Zernez and Lower Engadine (Unterengadin) in the northeast, from Zernez to Martina.

The Engadine Valley has a high percentage of people speaking Romansh as their mother tongue, although the number of Romansh and Swiss German speakers are roughly equal. In Lower Engadine, more people are likely to speak Romansh as their first language, although almost everyone are able to speak German, at least as a second language.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
