Maggia is a municipality in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Located at an elevation of 372 m (1,220 ft), it spans over 111.09 sq km (42.89 sq mi) and has a population of 2,500 people (2012 estimate). The municipality was formed in 2004 from bringing together the villages of Maggia, Moghegno, Aurigeno, Giumaglio, Someo and Lodano under a single administration.

The majority of the population of Maggia speak Italian (88%), followed by German (6.9%). Roman Catholic is the main religion here (80.4%) compared to just 4.7% attending the Swiss Reformed Church.

The history of Maggia goes back to 1200, when it first appeared as de madia. Human habitation here goes back further, as graves from the Roman period have also been recovered.

The nearest city from Maggia is Locarno. From there, take the country road Via Cantonale to reach Maggia.
