Society Islands is a huge collection of islands in the South Pacific, part of which belong to French Polynesia. Collectively they cover 1,590 sq km (614 sq mi) and has a population of 230,000 people (2012 estimate). The major islands within the Society Islands include Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Bora Bora and Huahine. Collectively, the islands of the Society Islands are grouped under Windward Islands and Leeward Islands. The Windward Islands include Mehetia, Tahiti, Tetiaroa, Moorea and Maiao. The Leeward Islands include Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a, Bora Bora, Tupai, Maupiti, Mopelia, Motu One and Manaue.

Visiting Society Islands

The main international airport serving the Society Islands is the Faaa International Airport in Tahiti. Inter-island flights are available connecting the different islands.
