Broomfield is a city within the Denver Metropolitan Area. It covers 27.5 sq mi (71.1 sq km) and has a population of 56,000 (2011 estimate). The city is in Broomfield County, at an elevation of 5,420 ft (1,629 m).

As with the many other suburban cities of Denver, Broomfield was incorporated quite recently, in 1961. The city was named after the broomcorn that are grown there. It experiences a semi-arid climate with very low rainfall throughout the year. The hottest month is July, when temperatures reach 88°F (31.1°C). Coldest month is January, when it drops to 16°F (-8.9°C).

Broomfield has a concentration of major multi-national high-tech corporations, including IBM, Ball Corp, Level 3 Communications, Seagate and Oracle. The city has numerous recreational parks and lakes.

Take the Denver-Boulder Turnpike (US Highway 36) and continue on Interlocken Loop to reach Broomfield.
