Dallas on Google Maps Street View

Dallas is famous for being a center for banking, commerce, telecommunications and computer technology. The city was made famous by the 1970's soap opera of the same name, and infamous as the site of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Dallas was founded in 1841. Before that, the area was inhabited by the Caddo Native Americans. There is no complete agreement among historians as to after whom the city was named. The city is on a relatively flat land, on an elevation of between 450 feet (137 meters) to 550 feet (168 meters). Although far from the sea, it was established along a river, the Trinity.
