Greenwich is a small city in Fairfield County, Connecticut. It is located at the south-westernmost tip of the state. The city covers 67.2 sq mi (174 sq km) and has a population of 62,000. As would be expected, the city was named after Greenwich in London. Greenwich observes the Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5/-4). The phone area code here is 203.

Greenwich is about twice the size of Manhattan, New York City. If fact it is just 40 minutes by express train from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Greenwich has a coastline facing the Long Island Sound. Calf Island and Great Captain Island are two of the islands off the coast that are also within the city limits.

Greenwich experiences a humid continental climate. The warmest month here is July, when the average high temperature touches 83°F (28.3°C). Coldest month is January, when the average low temperature dips to 21°F (-6.1°C).

Greenwich was settled in 1640 and officially founded as a town in 1665. The city has come a long way since then, becoming a hub for the financial services industry, particularly hedge funds.
