The ecology of Isle Royale National Park is of great interest to scientists as it is the only place where wolves and moose coexist without the presence of bears. This allows scientists to study the predator-prey relationship of the two animals within this remote location. To prevent the wolves at Isle Royal National Park from contracting canine diseases, dogs are forbidden from any part of the park, including the surrounding waters. In the past few years, the population of moose and wolves in the park has seen a healthy increase.

Visiting Isle Royale National Park, Michigan

There are no roads into Isle Royale National Park, so the two options for getting there is by seaplane or ferry. There are ferry services during the summer months linking the island with Grand Portage in Minnesota and Houghton and Copper Harbor in Michigan. Due to its remoteness and difficult access, it is not popular among day-trippers.

Isle Royale National Park, unless many others, is closed in winter, from 1 November till 16 April. During the summer months, the visitor center is on Mott Island within the park. It is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm from July to August, and on shorter hours in May, June and September. Phone (906) 482-0984. Park fees are $4.00 per person per day while season pass is $50 per person valid 16 April through 31 October.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
