Kansas is a landlocked state in the Midwestern United States. It is bordered by Nebraska to the north, Missouri to the east, Oklahoma to the south, and Colorado to the west. The geographic center of the Contiguous United States is in Smith County in Kansas. The state covers an area of 82,277 sq miles (213,096 sq km) and has a population of 2.8 million people. Its largest city is Wichita while the largest metropolitan area in Kansas is the Kansas City Metro area. The capital of the state is at Topeka.

The first European to arrive in Kansas was Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, who explored the area in 1541. It was one of the states that was brought into the United States through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

Being a largely rural agricultural state, Kansas is one of the slowest growing in the country in terms of population. This is also the result of rural flight with migration of the population from the countryside to the cities.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
