The land around Mesa was traditionally the homeland of the Hohokam tribe of Native Americans. They are noted for having built a canal system that is regarde as the largest and most sophisticated in the New World. The Hohokam people had long disappeared before the first white settler moved in.

Mesa City was established on 17 July, 1878. It started as a 1-square-mile town. When Mesa City was incorporated in 1883, it had a population of 300 people. Until as late as the 1960's, agriculture was the main occupation of the people of Mesa. This eventually was replaced as Mesa became urbanized by the grown of the metropolitan area of Phoenix.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
