Narragansett is a town in Washington County, on the southeastern coast of mainland Rhode Island. It covers 37.8 sq mi (97.8 sq km), two thirds of which is water. Narragansett has a population of 16,000 people (2011 estimate). The land area comprises the strip between the Pettaquamscutt River and Narragansett Bay.

The Narragansett area was inhabited as part of South Kingstown, which was formed in 1722. It was separated from South Kingstown in 1888, and then was incorporated as a town in 1901.
