New Jersey is a state of the United States regarded as being located in both the Northeastern region and the Middle Atlantic region. It covers an area of 8,721 sq mi (22,608 sq km) and ranks 47th in size among the 50 states. New Jersey measures 70 miles (110 km) east to west and 150 miles (240 km) north to south. The highest natural point in New Jersey is High Point, at 1,803 feet (550 meters).

New Jersey is bordered by New York to the north, Delaware to the south and Pennsylvania to the west. It faces the Atlantic Ocean to the east.

New Jersey has a population of 8.7 million people. Its largest city in Newark while its capital is Trenton. The state was admitted to the Union on 18 December, 1787, making it the 3rd to join the United States.

By Plane
The biggest airport in New Jersey is the Newark Liberty International Airport, which serves New Jersey along with neighboring states such as New York.

By Train
You can take the Amtrak train from New York City, Washington DC and Philadelphia to New Jersey.

By Road
There are many interstate highways serving New Jersey. The most important and busiest is I-95, part of which is called the New Jersey Turnpike. Other highways serving the state includes I-80 and I-78.
