Ohio is a state in the Midwestern region of the United States. It covers an area of 44,825 sq mi (116,096 sq km), ranking it the 34th biggest state out of the 50. Ohio is almost square, measuring 220 miles (355 km) from east to west as well as from north to south. Its highest point is Campbell Hill, standing at a height of 1,550 ft (472 m).

Ohio is bordered by Pennsylvania to the east, West Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the south, Indiana to the west and Michigan to the northwest. It has a population of 11.5 million people. The largest city as well as capital is Columbus.

Ohio was part of Northwest Territory until its admittance into the Union on 1 March, 1803, being the 17th state to join the United States. It is located in the Eastern time zone, and is often abbreviated OH.

By Plane
There are several international airports serving Ohio. Among them includes the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), the Port Columbus International Airport (CMH), and the James M. Cox Dayton International Airport (DAY). Ohio is also served by the Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK).

By Road
Interstate highway 80 (which combines with Interstate 90) runs across the northern part of Ohio, serving Toledo, Akron and Cleveland. Going through central Ohio is Interstate 70, passing through Dayton and Columbus. Running diagonally from southwest to northeast is Interstate 71, connecting Cincinnati with Columbus and Cleveland. Interstate 75 runs on the western part of Ohio connecting Cincinnati with Toledo.
