Oklahoma is a state in the South Central region of the United States. It is bordered by Kansas to the north, Missouri to the northeast, Arkansas to the east, Texas to the south, New Mexico to the west and Colorado to the northwest.

Oklahoma covers an area of 69,898 sq mi (181,195 sq km). It ranks 20th in terms of size, measuring 298 miles (480 km) from east to west and 230 miles (370 km) from north to south. The highest point in the state is Black Mesa, at 4,973 ft (1,515 m).

Oklahoma has a population of 3.7 million people, ranking it 28th among the 50 states. Its biggest city and capital is Oklahoma City. The state was known as Oklahoma Territory until it joined the United States on 16 November, 1907, being the 46th state to be admitted to the Union. It is located in the Central time zone (-6/-5 GMT), although the city of Kenton is informally within the Mountain time zone (-7/-6 GMT). The abbreviation for Oklahoma is OK.

The two major airports in Oklahoma are the Will Rogers World Airport, a domestic airport in Oklahoma City, and the Tulsa International Airport, an international airport in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

By Road
Driving provides you the freedom to explore Oklahoma in detail. There are a few interstate highways serving the state. Interstate 40 cuts across central Oklahoma, passing through Oklahoma City. Interstate 35 runs north south through the state linking Wichita in Kansas to Dallas and Fort Worth in Texas, passing through Oklahoma City. I-44 connects Oklahoma City to Tulsa.
