Heilongjiang Province (Simplified Chinese: 黑龙江省, Traditional Chinese: 黑龍江省, Pinyin: Hēilóngjiāng Shěng) is a province of the People's Republic of China, located on the northeastern part of the country. The province borders Inner Mongolia to the west, Jilin province to the south, and Russia to the north and east.

The name Heilongjiang means "Black Dragon River". The province includes the northernmost point of China, in Mohe County, and the easternmost, at the junction of the Amur and Ussuri rivers. The Amur River forms the natural border between China and Russia to the north.

Heilongjiang Province covers an area of 460,000 sq km (180,000 sq mi). It is the 6th largest of the 22 provinces of the country. The province has a population of 38.3 million people, also placing it in sixth position. The provincial capital as well as largest city is Harbin.

Heilongjiang Province comprises thirteen prefecture-level divisions which consist of twelve prefecture-level cities and one prefecture. The prefecture-level cities include Harbin, Daqing, Hegang, Heihe, Jiamusi, Jixi, Mudanjiang, Qiqihar, Qitaihe, Shuangyashan, Suihua and Yichun, while the prefecture is Daxing'anling.

Heilongjiang Province is renowned for its bitter winters, when temperatures can drop to below -31°C (-24°F). Summers are short and moderately warm, with temperatures rising to between 18°C (64°F) to 23°C (73°F).

Going to Heilongjiang Province

Harbin Taiping International Airport (HRB) is the main gateway to Heilongjiang Province. It receives regular flights from major cities in China as well as from Hong Kong, Seoul and Yakutsk.
