Jiangxi Province 江西省 is a province in the central southern part of China. Covering 166,900 sq km (64,400 sq mi), it is the 18th largest province in China. Jiangxi Province borders Anhui Province to the north, Zhejiang Province to the northeast, Fujian Province to the east, Guangdong Province to the south, Hunan Province to the west and Hubei Province to the northwest. The Yangtze River flows through the northern part of Jiangxi Province.

Jiangxi Province has a population of 44 million people (2011 estimate). It is the 13th most populous province in China. The capital and largest city is Nanchang. The province has a GDP of CNY 759 billion (20th) in 2009, and a per capita GDP of CNY 17,248 (25th position). It comprises 11 prefecture-level cities.

Jiangxi Province encompasses the Gan River valley, which is a passage allowing for easy travel through southern China, bypassing moutainous terrain. Surrounding the province on three sides are the Mufu Mountains, Jiuling Mountains and Luoxiao Mountains to the west; the Huaiyu Mountains and Wuyi Mountains to the east; and the Jiulian Mountains and Dayu Mountains to the south. Jiangxi Province experiences a subtropical climate with July being the hottest month and January the coldest.
