Kajang, Selangor (6 August, 2017)


Kajang (GPS: 2.99351, 101.7874) is a town in Selangor, to the south of Kuala Lumpur. It is best known for satay, although there is today several stores in the area claiming to be the "real thing". Sungai Langat flows through the town.

The town of Kajang is said to have been named after the nipah leaves that were used as thatch for roofing.¹. Early settlers in Kajang were the Mendailing people of Sumatra. When mining arriving in Kajang, the village experienced a boom, and became one of the important mining towns in the Ulu Langat District.

What to see in Kajang

There isn't much in the way of tourist attractions in Kajang. Perhaps instead of sightseeing, you might want to go for satay. The best known satay in Kajang is Sate Kajang Haji Samuri which has its main location at Bangunan Dato Nazir on Jalan Sungai Chua.

Getting there

Kajang is served by the North South Expressway Southern Route (E2), SILK Expressway (E18), Cheras-Kajang Expressway (E7) and the Kajang-Seremban Expressway (also E7).
