Ganges Avenue, Singapore (30 July 2017)
Ganges Avenue is a major road in
Singapore. It connects
Alexandra Road, at the intersection with
Delta Road and
Lower Delta Road, in the west; with
Havelock Road, at the intersection with
Zion Road, in the east. In between, Ganges Road also branches off to Indus Road and Havelock Link. Ganges Avenue was, of course, named after the Ganges River. It was originally called Ganges Road, but was later renamed Ganges Avenue.
Ganges Avenue is of course named after the
Ganges River, the river sacred to Hindus that flows through
Varanasi. The road got the name Ganges Road in 1952, and later on, it was renamed Ganges Avenue.
Taking the MRT to Ganges Avenue
The
Havelock MRT Station TE16 is located on the eastern end of Ganges Avenue. It is the nearest MRT station to serve this road.
