Hua Lamphong Railway Station, BangkokHua Lamphong Railway Station, Bangkok (29 August, 2006)

Hua Lamphong Railway Station (GPS: 13.73881, 100.51658) a big railway terminus in Bangkok. It is the railway hub for all the railway lines in Thailand. It is located on the southern end of the Pathum Wan district. The terminal building was built in the Italian Renaissance style - some say it was modelled after the Mancester Railway Station, not sure how much that is true. Hua Lamphong was open on 25 June, 1916, after a six-year construction period. The station has 14 platforms and 26 ticketing booths. Over 130 trains stop at Hualamphong every day, carrying about 60,000 passengers.

When Hua Lamphong Railway Station was built, the city centre was at Rattanakosin, putting the railway station to the east. Over the years, places like Ratchaprasong has developed to be the new downtown area, putting Hua Lamphong to the west of the new city centre.

Since 2004, passengers can also take the MRT subway train from Hualamphong to other parts of Bangkok.

Getting there

All roads lead to Rome, while in Thailand, all rails lead to Hua Lamphong. It is also the terminus of the MRT line.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
