Pirates, Predators of the Seas is a book that provides a comprehensive insight into piracy throughout the world. This is one of the books I bought at the Big Bad Wolf Bookfair at Penang Times Square on 23 March, 2014. I picked it up for a song - only RM12.00.

In fact I have not that keen an interest to know about piracy, but it happens to be that this book documents all the various famous pirates of the world, and that includes the Chinese pirate Koxinga, a Ming loyalist who staged a rebellion against the Manchu Government, and for a while, set up his own kingdom in Taiwan.

Although this book appears to be intended for casual readers, it does provide useful information about Koxinga, a subject matter in my study of Hokkien. And since it only cost RM12, I picked it up.
