Canges de Onís is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain. Canges de Onís occupies an area of 212.75 sq km (82.14 sq mi). Of this, 70 sq km is taken up by part of the Pico de Europa National Park. The town itself has a population of just around 2,500 people (2012 estimate).

Canges de Onís was once the capital of the Kingdom of Asturias until 774 AD. It is home to the Santa Cruz de Canges de Onís, the first church to be built on the Iberian peninsula after the conquest.

Visiting Canges de Onís

Take the A-8 motorway heading west out of Santander. At Llovio, head south on the N-634 till Les Arnondes, then continue in a southeast direction on the N-625 to reach Canges de Onís.
