Córdoba is a picturesque city in the autonomous community of Andalusia, in southern Spain. It serves as the capital of the province of Córdoba. It covers 1,255 sq km (485 sq mi) and has a population of 330,000 (2011 estimate).

Córdoba holds a unique position in history, as it had served as the capital of a Roman province of Hispania Ulterior, the capital of Hispania Baetica during the Roman Empire, the capital of an Arab state, and a Caliphate. Its historic quarter is rich with charming alleyways and small streets, which is no wonder that the city has been inscribed as of of Spain's World Heritage Sites.

Córdoba is located on the sharp bend of the Río Guadalquivir. Right at the heart of the city is the Cathedral-Mosque of Córdoba, the most famous icon of the city. Surrounding it are many sights worth exploring. You will certainly need at least two days and probably more, to truly appreciate Córdoba.

Going to Córdoba

The most luxurious way to reach Córdoba is to take the high-speed AVE trains from Madrid. It gets you to Córdoba within 1 hour 45 minutes. The same train also links Córdoba with Seville (45 minutes), M&acaute;laga (50 minutes) and Barcelona (5 hours).

A cheaper option is to take the bus. There are plenty from major cities of Spain. To get to Córdoba by flight, you have to fly to either Seville or M´laga and then take a bus or train from there - not the most convenient option unless you are coming from overseas.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
