Palma de Mallorca is the capital and main city onh the island of Majorca, in the Balearic Islands of Spain. It covers 208.63 sq km (80.55 sq mi) and has a population of 401,000 people (2012 estimate) within an urban area of 520,000 inhabitants.

Palma de Mallorca is popularly known simply as Palma. It has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, when the Talaiotic Culture was established here. Later on, the Romans arrived and built their encampment over the Talaiotic settlement. In the declining years of Roman influence, the settlement was attacked by the Vandals. Later on, the Byzantine conquered it. They were in turn replaced by the Moors, which placed Palma under Islamic rule from AD 902 until 1299, when James I of Aragón conquered it. He reintroduced Christian rule and named the city Palma de Mallorca.

Today Palma is the hub of Majorca's tourism industry. It has a number of sights within the Old Town area.
